Eating out

In southwestern France and, especially in Lot et Garonne, we are blessed with an exceptional quality of local produce including the famous foie gras, confit of duck, walnuts, prunes, fresh local fruit, vegetables and, of course, many fine wines. The choice is very varied.
For really good value, eat at any of the numerous small village establishments, tables d'hôte etc. at lunchtime (12:00 - 13:30). Just ask for the plat du jour (usually on the menu outside), which is usually changed from day to day, and will normally comprise of a 3 or 4 course meal, often including local wine for as little as about €10! |

For a grander lunch or dinner, we can recommend L'Imparfait in the old town of Bergerac (pictured) or the Moulin du Malfourat at Monbazillac. Nearer by, at Castillonnès, is the Hotel des Remparts. The Lion d'Or in Lauzun is also very good. A great place to try and very good value as well is the Italian restaurant des Arcades in the main square of Eymet. It's handy to know that it's open every day as most restos tend to close on Sunday evenings or on Mondays. |
